Here’s some history on the ’70 model year from VetteFacts.com:
“The 1970 Chevrolet Corvette replaced the 4 side gills with an egg-crate vents on the side. The fenders were flared slightly to keep rocks from being kicked up and scratching the paint. The seats were redesigned again, this time to create more headroom. 1970 enlarged the "Big Block" (known as the Rat motor) to its largest displacement at 454 ci. The relatively low production in 1970 was caused by a labor dispute that started in May of 1969. This dispute caused the 1969 production run to be stretched 4 months and the 1970 run to be cut short.”

So, out of the short run of 17,316… only 6,648 were convertibles. An even smaller number of those convertibles were big block, 4 speed cars and an even smaller number of those were Cortez Silver. That makes this a very rare car. Surely, this is one of the nicest un-restored, original survivors of that small number of coveted cars.

With this car, 454 performance tuned cubic inches with a 4 speed manual transmission and strong clutch ensure a fun filled feeling of power in a driver’s hands. Just because it hasn’t been restored does not mean that it needs anything. Extensive maintenance in August 2006, to ensure perfection, included NEW wheel bearings, OEM mufflers, radiator, accelerator pump, wiper motor, complete brakes, clutch, shocks, leaf springs and a complete transmission rebuild. At that time, appearance enhancements done included carpet kit, floor mats and door sills. Few miles driven since that time. This car lives in a heated and carpeted garage.

Dash is uncut and original AM/FM is included with the car. For driver enjoyment, this classic driver features AM/FM/CD/Satellite stereo with new upgraded speakers. Yes, the clock keeps accurate time, as well.

Repaint was done about 10-15 years ago and needs nothing. It shines like new with no flaws. There are no apparent signs of previous damage and the car is believed to be untouched. There is no checking, scratches or swirls in this paint. There are no squeaks or rattles in the body or interior components.

Old cars sometimes have minor issues that never seem to get solved. Not this baby. From the fiber optics, indicating exterior light performance, to the perfectly functioning vacuum operated headlights… everything works just as it should! Unlike many old ‘Vettes, the pop up headlight vacuum equipment enclosure is spotless.

These old big block cars need to be tuned for performance and this one has been done by one of the premier performance shops in the Pacific Northwest, Blood Enterprises in Auburn, WA. Part of the most recent tune up included new exhaust manifold gaskets, exhaust donuts and major carburetor service.

In short, there has been an ongoing effort to assure that this car is always looking and operating it’s very best and it has been done without the restraint of expense. That’s money that a new owner will not have to spend. You can enjoy this car immediately, knowing that it does not have any deferred maintenance or repairs to deal with.
